“neomerica” - New Paintings by Rah Crawford
ART BASEL MIAMI 2008 December 4-7, 2008
Milou Gallery 17 NW 36th st. Miami, FL 33127
Visual artist and founder of NPIC-Art™ Rah Crawford, will share his recent paintings entitled “neomerica” with the international art world during Art Basel Miami Beach the cultural and social highlight for the Americas. As the sister event of Switzerland’s Art Basel, the most prestigious art show worldwide for the past 39 years, Art Basel Miami Beach combines an international selection of top galleries with an exciting program of special exhibitions, parties and crossover events featuring music, film, architecture and design.
Rah Crawford’s latest work "neomerica", will be exhibited at Milou Gallery located in the famed Wynnewood Art District in Miami. “neomerica” envisions a humbled future for America’s tech-savy citizens – softer steps coupled with a willingness to learn versus lead; connect versus command.
“Political and financial leaders have led the nation to a literal ‘end of the road’, Now artists must assist in painting the new bridge of tomorrow.” declares Rah Crawford. “neomerica” promotes 3 main objectives for the nation. (1) The adoption of the metric system; (2) A hierarchal shift of arts and culture to the top of the nation’s list. (3) A downsizing of the American ego and consumption, with a green world view perspective.
“neomerica” possesses the dynamic visuals and energy that has garnered Crawford’s work international validation over the past several years. Crawford’s painting “Bonjour Blasé” was the flagship image for Amsterdam’s 2008 Contemporary AAF Fair. His painting shoes are currently displayed in the permanent collection of the Belgium Museum ‘Shoes or No Shoes’. Crawford’s work has elicited heated bidding at auctions for the Stedelijk Museum (Holland), the Smithsonian Museum and Saks Fifth Avenue (United States). Represented by Private View London, Crawford’s Olympic Athlete portraits for the 2008 Beijing Olympics depicted gold medalists in Crawford’s award winning style.
With “neomerica”, Rah Crawford gracefully humbles himself and his birth nation before the international art world as an unlikely art-ambassador on a mission of peace and hope.
Neomerica gracilis is a tropical iris that is native from S. Mexico to Brazil. When the Apostle Plant blooms it is an indicator that spring has arrived in the greenhouse.
